Dr Greg Steel

Dr Greg Steel graduated from the University of Queensland in 1981 and completed his hospital residency in
Toowoomba, Nambour and the UK finishing as a Senior Medical Officer specialising in Surgery, Paediatrics,
Obstetrics and Anesthetics before becoming a Rural Medical Superintendent at the district of Miles in 1986
to 1991 with Dr John Gillette.
In 1990 Greg passed the exam to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Australian General Practitioners
and briefly acted as an examiner for the College exams. For the next two years Dr Steel worked in General
practice in the UK and then with various colleagues in Australia before establishing Bridge Medical
Practice in 1993.
Bridge Medical has been run as a two doctor practice until late 2018 with staff including a full time
Practice Manager and Registered nurse. Dr Steel’s work has included delivering babies at the Toowoomba Base
Hospital and at St Vincent’s Hospital and has assisted two prominent surgeons Dr's Pun and Egerton for many
years.
Greg was one of the founding GP’s of the St Andrew’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit at its inception and
remained active in the group until 2018. Dr Steel still enjoys full admitting privileges at St Vincent’s
and St Andrew’s Hospitals, the Toowoomba Hospice and Nursing Home facilities. In 1998 Greg was an
Occupational Health Doctor for 10 years at Beef City and KR Darling Downs until it’s closure in 2009.
Dr Steel completed a further qualification in Musculoskeletal medicine from the University of Otago in New
Zealand in 1998 and continues to remain very active in all facets of General Practice specialising in
Musculoskeletal, Sports injures and Skin cancer surgery.
